A lawsuit that would overturn a law that allowed for Vegas-style casinos on California tribal lands is in the hands of a federal judge. U.S. District Judge David Levi is expected to rule on the case within a few weeks.
The case could decide if last year's Proposition 1a, which allowed for slots and other forms of gambling on native lands, is constitutional.
Opponents, which include the state's card clubs, contend that it isn't, and that it gives Indians an unfair monopoly on Las Vegas-style gambling.
Both sides have vowed to appeal should the decision go against their interests.
