Boyd Gaming was ordered to halt installation of slot machines at its newly-purchased Delta Downs racetrack in Louisiana, at least temporarily.

The injunction was issued in response to a lawsuit filed by Isle of Capri, which operates a riverboat casino in nearby Lake Charles.

Boyd officials said the lawsuit had no basis and would only delay installing the 1700 slots, which they hoped would be up and running by mid December.

Isle of Capri was among the bidders for the Delta Downs racetrack earlier this year.
