Webber created the musical with Tim Rice and in so doing electrified the international theatrical community with the offbeat story of a struggling actress who rose to become the most powerful woman in Argentina. The production follows the effervescent Evita as she moves up the political and social ladder ”” shoulder to shoulder with her dictator husband, Argentine president Juan Peron.

A brilliant score provides the entire dialogue for the musical. The rich soundtrack introduced a number of enduring songs ingluding the plaintive but powerful “Don’t Cry For Me, Argentina.”
