After failing to strike a deal with Television Games Network, Magna Entertainment will launch its own telephone betting service in California.

California recently approved phone account wagering for its race tracks. Operators are expected to become licensed by the end of January.

Magna, which owns Santa Anita and Golden Gate, among others, will announce the name of its new account wagering service this week.

Magna also plans to contact racetracks regarding particpation in the new operation.
