If you’re out doing your holiday shopping in Summerlin, stop by The Suncoast Hotel Casino for a lunch break special. They have a hot dog cart set up near the Race and Sports book that serves up a dog with your choice of ketchup, mustard, relish and/or onions for 75 cents. It’s available seven days a week, but they have no real set hours. You’re safe if you go between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sometimes they open a little earlier or stay a little later. Tasty, and you can’t beat the price! If you want to stay and play, you’ll be earning double slot club points all month, 24/7, through Christmas Day, and then again on New Year’s Day, 1/1/02. The other Coast resort properties, Barbary, Gold Coast and Orleans, are also running the same double points schedule and they all serve the hot dogs in the same price range, from 75 cents to about $1.25.

Here’s another fun place, not far off the Strip, to kick back and hoist a few with your friends after work to celebrate the holiday season. Try Key Largo Hotel Casino on Flamingo, near Paradise. Happy hour is 3 to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday when draft beers are 50 cents, well drinks are 75 and all appetizers are half price. They also feature domestic bottled beers every day, all day for a buck a pop. If you gamble there this month, it’s three times slot club points throughout December, and if you’re lucky enough to snag a royal flush on any video poker machine, you’ll also get a nice half-zipper logo sweatshirt as a free bonus gift.

The Roadhouse Casino, Lounge, and Diner on Boulder Hwy at Sunset Rd, is serving up early bird dining specials beginning daily at 3 p.m., “until they run out.” Currently, you can choose from Yankee Pot Roast, Prime Rib, or a 1/2 Baked Chicken dinner for $3.99. That includes your choice of garlic-mashed potatoes or baked beans, soup or salad and even a glass of wine. Blue Plate lunch specials, (several to select from,) are served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $2.99, including the wine too.

Here’s something a little different and easy on the budget. Did you know you can get a free tour of The National Vitamin Company located right here in Las Vegas? It’s located on Industrial Rd. behind the Strip, opposite The Belz Factory Outlet Mall, on the corner of Warm Springs. The factory tours run from about 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and some limited hours on Sundays. You’ll get a few free samples if you take the tour and you can do some shopping at their factory store as well.

For service industry employees with proper ID, you’re entitled to free admission to the new Coyote Ugly nightclub at New York-New York. Pretty wild, from what we hear. Take advantage of this deal on Sundays only, beginning at 10 p.m.

Finally, we’ve got one more “On The Cheap” style holiday special coming from the Sahara this month that you can enjoy with the whole family.

Take your kid’s to see Steve Wyrick’s Magic Show for free. Any child 12 years old and under gets a free admission ticket when accompanied by an adult at the regular ticket price of $39.95 plus tax and small service charge.

Show times are 7 and 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 7 p.m. only on Sundays and Mondays. No shows on Tuesdays. The offer is available through December 23, and you must purchase your tickets at The Sahara Box Office only, to get the deal.

Until next week, eat well, play well, stay well.
