CULTURED: Was rank early and hard to hold. Angled in on the first turn, but got stuck on the rail going into the second turn and had to wait for room when ready to ramble. Checked off heels in upper stretch, but still finished in a strong rally. Just did miss the place in what was a very good try despite the trouble.

I’M ALL OUT: Looked very good in this spot at almost 3-1, but suffered a very wide trip. Was taken out on the turn and went five wide into the stretch. Went willingly to the end, while being widest of all on the wire in a four-horse blanket finish. With a good trip, this guy will be in the winner’s circle in his next start with new jock in the saddle.

LITTLE BRENDA: First-time starter took some action, but had no shot at running down the lone runaway speed in this race. Did run a bang-up second and was much the best of the rest of her field. This girl will make no mistakes in her second start. Looks to be a good single in the picks.

SCOTT’S SPIRIT: Was in tight early and between horses. Came out on the turn and went five-wide into the stretch. Was flying late, but had to settle for the show dough despite blazing past the top two at the wire. This guy may have been best and has the looks of a horse sitting on a monster effort.

RAINGEAR: Just ran sixth behind Scott’s Spirit. He was steadied early and had to take back. When taken inside, he awaited room leaving the turn. Was blocked into the stretch, came out, split rivals and got going again too late. I would love to see Raingear and Scott’s Spirit come back in the same race. It would be a great exacta box. You could key them both in trifectas.

SWING YOUR PARTNER: Broke slow and was between horses. Got in tight and had to be taken back. Made a big surge while three deep on the line and just did miss. Finished in a dead heat for the place position. This one got claimed for 10k by a top outfit and they should recoup their investment at first asking.

SPORTS EDITION: Jockey Alex Solis has come alive of late and looks like the old Solis. He did get his horse in trouble in this race, getting stuck down on the rail – a place that Alex really does not like. He was blocked and had to steady hard. Did come back late to pick up the show dough.

SUNDAY DRESS: I used this girl off the Mike Mitchell claim before I went on my trip to New Orleans last week. As luck would have it, Mike wheeled him right back and he ran before HTW came out Tuesday. I will use him again. This girl is in freakish form. In her previous win, she went wire to wire showing good speed. The race began with her taken back and next to last. She looked hopelessly beaten, but found her passing gear and mowed them down late while five-wide. I look for her to again come back strong. Maybe Mike will stretch her out after this effort. $$$

SHERRY’S HIGH: Good try first time out for Carla Gaines, as most of her stead are ready at first asking. Mike Mitchell put up 40k for this maiden filly, so look for the move up and a quick score. $$$

TOUCH OF IRELAND: Will be ready to score soon especially since St. Paddy’s day is right around the corner. For all you redheads, get down on this girl and drink some of that green beer.

SEATTLE DOUBLE: Was coming back after being eased in his first try when the saddle slipped. Got claimed out of that race and was being hammered at the windows. Caught a sloppy track, which may not have been to his liking. I would give this guy a big shot if on a fast strip in his next start.
