Harrah’s and the Rio scrapped their energy surcharge this week.

The $3-per-room fee was imposed in April after natural gas and electric prices had doubled over the previous 12 months.

“We are pleased that the recent decline in energy prices has enabled us to remove the surcharge. We hope energy prices remain low so we won’t have to reinstate the surcharge,’’ said Carlos Tolosa, Harrah’s western division president.

MGM Mirage and Park Place resorts discontinued their energy assessments after Terror Tuesday. Mandalay Resorts never implemented the fee. In August, Hilton eliminated the energy fees at its non-gaming hotels, but its casinos kept them on.

Station Casinos and Sam’s Town are also sticking with a $3 surcharge.
