Land a game show spot

Would you like a free chance to appear as a contestant on “The Price is Right” Game Show?  On Thursday, beginning at 10 a.m., January 17, the Rio, will be distributing approximately 900 free tickets for a taping of the show’s prime time special. Of course, I’m sure you’ll need to be in line much earlier if you plan to get a ticket.  The tickets will be distributed one per person, strictly on a first-come, first-served basis, outside the entrance to the Samba Theater.  Once you receive a ticket, you will need to report back at an assigned time explained in a letter attached to your ticket. You must be at least 18 years old to participate.  For more information you can call 777-7777 and ask for the show hotline, or visit the Harrah’s website at {}.

While there still seems to be some name confusion, the Casino, at The Resort at Summerlin, now also known as JW Marriott, has begun a new promotion this month offering all casino gamblers free hors d’oeuvres daily between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. If you go on Tuesdays or Thursdays, you’ll get double points for your casino action play as well as enjoying the munchies. (Double points from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.)

The Castaways, out on Boulder Highway, has “rolled back” prices in The Pelican Rock Café, (coffee shop,) this month. You can grab their 20 oz. Monster burger for $3.95; a Southern fried Chicken Dinner for $1.95; Chicken Fried Steak for $2.95; or a Prime Rib Dinner special for $4.95.  You can also use your slot club points for these specials if you’re a member, (Club Castaways) and have enough points accrued.

Sam’s Town always has some great food deals. Check out their Fresh Harvest Café for a $2.49 breakfast, served from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., consisting of two eggs, hash browns, two pancakes and your choice of bacon or sausage.  Or get their Steak & Eggs special for $3.49 served round the clock.  They also offer complete meal, Blue Plate Specials for $5.49 everyday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

A slight correction to the 77 cent breakfasts we told you about a couple weeks ago at the Fiesta’s (Rancho and Henderson.)  It does indeed exist between midnight and 6 a.m., but it should read two eggs, two bacon strips, hash browns and toast, instead of the pancakes we mentioned.  No complaints, here, just keeping the information accurate and up to date.

Terrible’s, located on the corner of Paradise and Flamingo, is another place you can always find some tasty cheap eats. A T-bone Steak and Eggs or Ham and Eggs breakfast can be had for $3.99 from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. any day of the week. For dinner, go for the new Prime Rib and Crab Legs special for $9.99.  And if you need a room, how’s $19.00 sound for cheap? They are offering the room special for January, subject to availability.

Finally, for something fun and free, you might want to check out the 15th Annual Travel Fair being held at the Orleans, on Saturday, January 12.  The show runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature door prizes, travel presentations and one-day-only travel discounts and specials.  Be sure to pick up free tickets for the show in advance from any Prestige Travel office, or they collect $3 at the door to donate to charity.

Until next week”¦Eat well, play well, stay well.
