Steve DuCharme, longtime member of the Nevada Gaming Control Board and one of the most knowledgeable gaming regulators in the country, has been retained as a consultant by WMS Gaming Inc., a subsidiary of WMS Industries, Inc. (WMS).
The addition of DuCharme comes at a time when WMS has incurred the wrath of regulators in several jurisdictions because of lapses and failures in some of their equipment.
DuCharme, who is expected to assist the company with their compliance in regulatory matters and in strategic growth opportunities, began his new assignment on Monday. He brings to WMS a long history of participation in law enforcement and 20 years with Nevada gaming regulators, first as a member of the Gaming Control Board and in the last two years as chairman, replacing his friend and colleague, Bill Bible.
He holds a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and an associates degree in law enforcement from the Clark County Community College.
Since leaving the regulatory agency, he has been an instructor and advisor to the faculty of the National Judicial College. He also heads the compliance committee of the Vestin Group.
