Bettors may notice the name IPFW when scanning college basketball lines. No, it’s not a union.

The initials stand for Indiana University at Purdue-Fort Wayne, which by the way fell to 0-13 after Saturday night’s 18-point loss at San Diego State.

IPFW moved up to fifth in the Dirty Dozen. Some services may list IPFW as 2-13, but both wins came against Division II teams, which do not count in our poll.

A red light should go on for bettors when seeing any team with hyphens or letters. Not every team with those traits is bad, but most are. Arkansas-Pine Bluff stands fourth in the pole with an 0-12 record.

Fairleigh Dickinson heads three teams from the Northeast Conference in the Dozen. FDU again ranks first with an 0-12 straight-up mark. The other Northeast members are LIU and Mount St. Mary’s.

North Carolina remains in the poll following a 22-point loss to Wake Forest. It was the worst loss the Tar Heels have ever suffered at the Dean Dome and dropped UNC to 1-6 ATS.

The worst is yet to come. Duke will pay a visit soon as will Clemson, a lifelong loser in Chapel Hill.

Dean Smith is in mourning.
