Mikohn Gaming Corp. of Las Vegas plans to develop a wide-area progressive slot system for release to North American casinos later this year.

Mikohn has not identified an exact date for its release, according to a Las Vegas Sun report. The company is also holding back on which games it plans to put on the progressive system.

"We see the wide-area progressive system as a natural integration of our systems business with our expanding array of highly popular branded slot games," said David Thompson, Mikohn chairman and CEO.

Megabucks is Mikohn's best-known progressive slot jackpot. The company also announced the hiring of former Caesars Palace VP of slot operations Charles Lombardo to coordinate the system's development.
