How much do you like spinach? If you can do a good Popeye imitation and wolf it down by the bucket, you could win $5,000.

As part of the new Popeye slot machine’s promotion, Bally Gaming is staging the Great Popeye Spinach-Eating Contest at Paris Las Vegas on Thursday. Ten contestants will be chosen from listeners who call in to KOOL 93.1 FM and correctly answer Popeye trivia questions.

Whoever has the fortitude ”” and cast iron stomach ”” to consume the most spinach in the allotted time will win the $5,000 winner-take-all prize. The contest will be held at noon on the sidewalk in front of the French-themed resort.

The spinach-eating contest coincides with the debut of Bally Gaming’s new Popeye video slot that is being launched throughout Nevada. The Popeye games were initially installed at Paris and the Rail City Casino in Sparks.

With a reset value of $100,000 that increases with play, the video game builds on the entertainment world’s ultimate He Man, Popeye the Sailor Man.

The newest member of the Bally Gaming Thrillions progressive system family, Popeye offers two special bonus features that spotlight classic scenes such as Popeye fighting past Brutus to rescue Olive Oyl and Wimpy chomping hamburgers. The game also offers high-resolution graphics and advanced sound on the new EVO video platform.
