WIDE AREA PROGRESSIVE SLOT SYSTEM has won the fancy of Mikohn Gaming (MIKN). The progressive company announced that it has begun development of a wide area progressive slot system for release later this year. A new game, to be announced next week, will debut with the WAP.

David J. Thompson, Mikohn’s top gun, said the system would incorporate much of the technology developed by the company for TAB Ltd.’s WAP System operational in Australia.

“We see the system as a natural integration of our systems business with our expanding array of highly popular branded slot games,” Thompson told GamingToday.

“Our town developers are already focused on creating unique and appealing games to be offered on our wide area progressive slot system.”

What’s next? Look for the company to make an announcement for the system.

At the same time, the company announced that it has engaged veteran casino executive Charles Lombardo as a consultant to assist in the WAP system’s development.

For your information, Charles Lombardo is one of the true gurus of slot operations. The new assignment should fit him like a good pair of leather gloves.
