One of television’s most popular game shows, “The Price is Right” starring Bob Barker, comes to Harrah’s Rio for the taping of its 30th anniversary special beginning

Thursday, January 17.

Also on hand will be show announcer Rod Roddy, as well as “Barker’s Beauties” show models Claudia Jordan, Heather Kozar and Nikki Ziering.

The public is invited to view the taping and vie for a chance to be a show contestant. Call (866) 865-4922 for information.

In conjunction with the event, Harrah’s will roll out a second generation “The Price is Right” video slot machine, which features the popular Plinko game. The slot will be introduced at Harrah’s casinos nationwide this month.

Manufactured by International Game Technology (IGT), the new slot machine will feature bonus rounds with the Pachinko-like game that awards various bonus credits.

During the initial rollout, a total of more than 60 of the nine-line, nickel denomination video slots will be installed at Harrah’s Las Vegas, The Rio, Harrah’s Laughlin, Harrah’s Reno, Harrah’s Lake Tahoe and Harvey’s Lake Tahoe.

“The response from our customers to the first The Price is Right slot machine has been absolutely outstanding,” said Bruce Rowe, Harrah’s Entertainment’s corporate vice president of slot operations research and development. “By offering the newest and most innovative slots to our players, Harrah’s casinos continue to be the best bet for slot enthusiasts.”

The new machine features many of the game show’s most recognized elements ”” the showcase showdown, the big bonus wheel and an animated version of game show announcer Rod Roddy.

The slots also feature a brand new bonus round based on Plinko, a game in which players drop an animated disk into a maze of bumpers that bounce the disk repeatedly until it drops into one of several compartments arranged at the bottom of the maze. Each compartment contains a prize worth various bonus credits.

“Plinko is the most popular game on the show, and we’re confident that its popularity will carry over to slot players,” said Simon Spalding, executive vice president and general manager of worldwide licensing for FremantleMedia, which licenses The Price is Right. “This machine will allow people all over the country to experience the same level of excitement as the contestants who make it to the TV stage in Hollywood.”
