Onslaught of new shows hits Las Vegas

There are a lot of great new shows hitting the boards, including the provocative Tease at the Blue Note at the Aladdin. In just a short while the show is picking up steam, and also generating a fair amount of its own! This is an original show with stand out performances by Judy Lombardi, Charly Sullivan and Stuard (my favorite EFX guy) Daylida, who is worth the ticket price!

A new show at Bourbon Street stars my favorite madman, the Fielding West Show: Comedy, Tricks and Naked Chicks. Fielding also had a nice show at the Lady Luck.

Another hot new show takes place at The Rio, The Man Who Can Make Anything Talk starring Ronn Lucas and Friends. This is a hilarious show.

Some bad information found its way here last week and I apologize. The popular, Backstage Live! at the IP, ceased broadcasting upon mutual consent of all involved. It goes to show, watch your sources!

That being said, the newest rumors surrounding Melinda, First Lady of Magic ”” is that she’s looking for a new venue for her show. She is doing bang-up business at The Venetian, but let’s get one thing straight: Jack Gordon, who was once wed to LaToya Jackson, is NOT her new manager!

Over at the Stardust, I was totally surprised and amazed by the show put together by Terry Jenkins ”” Legendary Ladies of Rock and Roll ”” a very tight, upscale production that I totally enjoyed. Leslie Gore was in rare form. Also on the bill was Shirley Alston Reeves, former singer with the Shirelles. Little Peggy March was brilliant.

At the Stirling Club at the Turnberry Place, a strange cocktail party hosted by Joe Battig had Robin Leach holding court, along with Clint Holmes, Bob Anderson, Sonny King, and movie producers from all over the globe.

At Caesar’s Palace, the wonderful Chita Rivera was celebrated at the Black and White Ball. It was a very elegant affair! She did say she has negotiated for Hello, Dolly at the Aladdin in May. What great casting! All the stars at that party were totally glamorous ”” including Liza Minelli (via video tape) who had lost an amazing 60 pounds! We all know that she is getting married next month to David Gest. Talking about Liza, her sister, Lorna Luft, has become a successful producer with the awards bestowed on her and Judy Davies (portraying Judy Garland) at the Golden Globes.

With Sheena Easton over at the Hilton, you have to give it to the girl! When she was at the Rio in the Copa show with David Cassidy, we were all wondering if she would have an audience for her solo performance. She has shown us that she is truly making the numbers work!
