Plenty of bargains on Super Bowl Sunday

One of the biggest weekends in sports is coming up with the Super Bowl this Sunday, and as promised, we’ll explore some free and some cheap ways to enjoy the big game. For starters, you can walk into almost any casino in town and the game will be televised on almost every television set throughout the entire casino floor. The Palms for example, will feature over 100 large TV screens located throughout the casino for your viewing pleasure, absolutely free. Or if you arrive early enough, you can grab a free seat at most any casino’s sports book, but again, arriving early is the key. Now, if you’ve got a few bucks you can part with and want more of that party-animal atmosphere, you can attend one of the many low-cost parties at any one of a couple dozen casinos. You can easily find an afternoon’s entertainment package for $25 or less. The Rio will open its doors for a ticket-only party at noon. Cost of a ticket is $10 with food and drinks being sold separately. For only $15 you can get a little more bang for your buck at Silverton or the Gold Coast. The doors of the Silverton Hotel Casino Showroom will open at 2 p.m. and the ticket price includes a stadium-style buffet, a free Coors beer, and a chance to win cash and prizes during their giveaways. The Coors Silver Bullet Girls will also be appearing. (Makes it a little more interesting if the game turns out to be a dud!) For the same $15 ticket price, the doors of the Gold Coast showroom will open at 2 p.m. likewise, but the food spread includes all-you-can-eat hot dogs, pizza, popcorn and two free Coors drafts. The Coors Girls will be here also. (Never a dull moment!) Moving up a notch, (price wise,) the Storm Theatre at Mandalay Bay opens at 2 p.m. for their Super Bowl party activities. Ticket price is $24.95 and includes a free beer or soda and one hot dog. Both the Golden Nugget, downtown, and Harrah’s on the Strip, are each coming in at $25 for a ticket to their respective parties. The Golden Nugget party begins at 2 p.m. in the Theatre Ballroom and includes food and beverages. Your $25 ticket at Harrah’s will get the doors to open at Noon in the La Playa Lounge and includes a stadium-style buffet. There are plenty of higher priced parties up and down the Las Vegas Strip, with some obviously more lavish than others. But, hey”¦we’re talkin’ “On The Cheap” here! Have fun! Find someplace that suits your wallet and your appetite and have a great time! There’s hardly ever a more exciting time in Las Vegas than Super Bowl weekend! If your team wins, and you feel like celebrating, Roberta’s at the El Cortez, downtown at 6th and Fremont, has just started a new Chicken & Ribs two for one dinner deal for $12.95 on Monday nights. Heck, even if your Super Bowl team lost, this deal is too good to pass up. Reservations are always suggested. The local number is (702) 385-5200. Until next week”¦Eat well, play well, stay well.
