Aladdin presents Gershwin’s American classic ’Porgy & Bess’

Porgy & Bess arrives at the Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts Saturday, offering theatergoers the chance to enjoy great music while absorbing a genuine part of American musical history. Originally billed as a folk opera, Porgy & Bess introduced classic Gershwin songs like “Summertime,” “I Got Plenty O’ Nuttin’” and “It Ain’t Necessarily So,” as well as soaring and magnificent choruses that continue to enthrall audiences today.

The production coming to the Aladdin is one of the most acclaimed in the nation, with a cast drawn from some of the country’s leading opera companies. Performers are backed by a 20-piece orchestra, giving full voice to the work of George and Ira Gershwin.
