The antipated featherweight title rematch between champion Erik Morales and challenger Marco Antonio Barrera was postponed from Mar. 2 to perhaps as late as July.

Barrera sustained a rib injury during training and was forced to delay his rematch with Morales, who won a controversial decision last February in what was hailed as the Fight of the Year.

The MGM Grand, host site for the fight, indicated the new date could be in July. Nearly 75 percent of the tickets had been sold six weeks prior to the Mar. 2 date.

The fight had to be pushed back due to the Oscar De La Hoya-Fernando Vargas bout scheduled for May 4 at Mandalay Bay.
