Plenty of promotions to celebrate at the Fiesta

Feb 19, 2002 4:08 AM

“Super Scratch 4 Cash” continues at the Fiesta’s through February 28. A three part scratch card is given out on all 4-of-a-kinds in jacks, queens, kings and aces. The top part of the scratch card is an instant free prize of free slot club points or cash. There is even a possible chance to win $1,000 instantly or a million points! The second part of the card is a letter. If you spell out “F-I-E-S-T-A,” you’re a winner of $1,000. (Psst”¦The letter “S” is the hard one to get!) The final part of the card is a drawing ticket for their Friday and Saturday night giveaways. Drawings are held at 6:15 and 8:15 p.m. both nights, with a chance to win a share of the $30,000 cash pool. A bonus drawing for unclaimed cash will be held on Thursday, February 28, at 8:15 p.m. Play at Fiesta Rancho or Fiesta Henderson to earn your scratch tickets. Make sure to use your Amigo card when you play and have your wins verified by an attendant. Your slot club number is written on each scratch card and thereby become non-transferable, making the drawings fair for everyone.  Complete rules are posted at both casinos.

The Palms will be offering free video poker lessons on Thursday afternoons in March. Video poker expert, Bob Dancer and his wife, Shirley, will be teaching instructions on learning the basics of playing correct strategies to improve your game and increase your chances of winning. A beginner’s class will be taught from noon to 1 p.m. and an advanced class will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The following is the March schedule of games being taught. March 7: Jacks or Better; March 14: Deuces Wild; March 21: Joker’s Wild; March 28: Double Bonus Poker. (For Double Double Bonus lovers, not to worry. You’ll get your chance to learn the game in April, although I know Bob won’t recommend it as the best game in the house to play! However, the Palms does have a new version of the game that offers a pay back of over 100 percent).

Speaking of video poker, Boulder Station hosts a $2,000 video poker tournament each Thursday. Qualifying rounds are each half-hour between 4 and 7 p.m., with the final round at 8 p.m. the entry fee is $10 with $5 re-buys. Every contestant plays a 15-minute session; the day’s 42 highests scorers advance to the final round. All finalists receive cash prizes and the grand prize each week is $500.

For slot players, the Palms has a new $1 carousel offering pay outs up to 99 percent.

If you like Pai Gow Poker, try the Wednesday night tournaments at Santa Fe Station. Tournaments begin at 6 p.m. with an entry fee of $25. Top Prize is $1,000. They also hold Blackjack Tournaments on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. Entry fee is $10 and prizes are based on number of entrants.

Casino workers should check out the Fiesta Henderson, which hosts a Wednesday Industry Night every Wednesday. Between 6 p.m. and midnight, service industry workers with I.D. can get great deals at the Nils Lofgren Guitar Bar. Among them are the dollar drinks, food specials, late-night breakfast coupons for Baja Beach Cafe, and plenty of entertainment with local rocker, Tommy Rocker. Service industry workers can sign up for WIN prize packages that include free meals at Fiesta restaurants and drinks at any of its bars.

Until next week, always remember, “Luck seems to come to those who prepare for it.”
