You just have to love the casino come-ons and loss leaders in Las Vegas, attempting to entice us to gamble and play while offering some of the best dog-gone food specials you’ll find anywhere in the world. The most popular favorites for locals and tourists alike, always seem to be steaks, prime rib, crab legs and lobster, and we have several new, excellent choices to share with you this week.

Looking for deals on the Strip is not always easy, as many of the best promotions are usually off-Strip or found in local’s casinos. But Bally’s Sidewalk Café, (the coffee shop,) serves a nice King Crab Leg and Prime Rib special daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. for $12.95. You’ll get an 8-ounce helping of both along with a generous portion of mashed potatoes and a hot vegetable.

At the Bay City Diner in the Golden Gate, downtown, you can always cash in on a great 24 hour 16-ounce Porterhouse Steak special for a mere $7.77. A nice Porterhouse at the grocery store will set you back more than that alone, and this deal includes your choice of soup or salad, as well as a choice of French fries, baked or mashed potato!

Tony Roma’s in the Fremont, also downtown, has a daily two-hour time frame for a nightly steak and lobster special. Get it from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. only, for $10.99 and dinner also includes your choice of potato. Tony Roma’s doesn’t take reservations, so don’t be surprised if you need to wait in line.

Ellis Island located at the intersection of Flamingo and Koval, is quickly becoming a favorite for Las Vegas locals for their special $4.95 complete steak dinner offer. It’s a 10-ounce top sirloin served with all the trimmings including soup or salad, baked potato and dinner rolls. Best of all, you can get this one anytime, as it’s available 24 hours a day, everyday.

Not to be left out, the Castaways has “rolled back” prices on customer favorites like a prime rib dinner for $4.95 and Southern fried chicken for $1.95. There’s also a chicken fried steak special for $2.95. You must be a Club Castaways member and show your player’s card for these special prices, but it’s free to join. No problem.

In other “News for the Cheap,” a Local’s Appreciation Package is being offered by Treasure Island to see Mystère and receive a complimentary dinner for two at Kahunaville, their new tropical restaurant and bar. For a limited time, Nevada locals with proper ID can purchase two seats to this popular show and get the restaurant voucher to boot. Since discounts to this extraordinary show are rare, it may be a nice time to take advantage of this offer. You’ll also get an offer for a $49 room rate with the deal if you’d like to spend the night. For details, information and reservations call (702) 894-7112. Performances are nightly at 7:30 or 10:30 p.m. and the offer is based on availability. No shows on Mondays or Tuesdays.

Until next week”¦Eat well, play well, stay well!
