As matriarch of the Maloof clan, Colleen is less known than her more visible sons, Joe, Gavin, George and Phil, and daughter, Adrienne, but when Worth magazine began adding up the bucks, they noted that Colleen Maloof is Albuquerque, N.M.’s wealthiest resident.

In its March issue, the New York-based magazine offered a feature listing the richest person in each of the nation’s 100 largest metropolitan areas. The article said the family traces its wealth to the late Joe Maloof, Sr., who parlayed several beer distributorships in the closing days of Prohibition into a liquor conglomerate, a trucking company and a bank.

Although known nationally, the Maloof family might be better known as the owners of the Sacramento Kings, and in Las Vegas, George Maloof is the highly-visible operator of the family-owned Palms.
