Kansas, Duke, Maryland and Cincinnati earned the top seedings for the 2002 NCAA college basketball tournament.

The top-ranked Jayhawks wind up in the Midwest Region, while Duke heads the South Region. Maryland is the top seed in the East, while Cincinnati holds the No. 1 slot in the West.

UNLV, which reached the finals of the Mountain West Tournament, did not receive a bid to the NCAAs. The league's automatic berth went to San Diego State, which defeated the Rebels in the final Saturday night.

Other bubble teams denied berths included Butler, Memphis and Georgetown. Wyoming, the regular season Mountain West champ, received an at-large bid.
