Park Place Entertainment tips off March Madness

Where: Caesars Palace, Caesars Tahoe, Flamingo Las Vegas, Flamingo Laughlin, Las Vegas Hilton, Reno Hilton, Bally’s/Paris Las Vegas

Rules: Pick winning teams against the Park Place lines during each round of the tournament. You must make a selection in all games offered or receive 0 points for that day.

Entry fee: $50. Cash only. Maximum five entries per person, per property.

Prize money: First place 50 percent of the total pool, Second is 25 percent, third 10 percent, fourth 5 percent, fifth 4 percent, sixth 2 percent, seventh-10th 1 percent.

Deadline: All entries must be submitted prior to start of the first game scheduled for Thursday, March 14.

Amenities: A $1,000 bonus will be awarded for winning first place in the contest and picking the overall winner of the tournament prior to the start of the opening round. Contestants needed to enter by 6 p.m. Monday, March 11 to be eligible for the bonus.

Standings: Will be posted by noon the day after each round is final.

 

Where: Las Vegas Hilton

Amenities: Along with the March Mania Contest, the Hilton will also be holding a Free Fridays Southern California Race Contest with $1,000 in prize money and no entry fee. The Hilton also plans a $50,000 Luck of the Irish Slot Tournament from March 14-16 in conjunction with the NCAAs. There is no entry fee for the slot event either.

 

Where: Palace Station, Las Vegas

What: Vegas Insider Tournament Âí­Essentials Seminar.

Entry fee: $49.95 entry fee for the one day, four-hour session beginning Wednesday, March 13 at 6 p.m.

Deadline: All entries must be submitted prior to start of the seminar. Those wanting to come at the time of the seminar are invited to attend, providing that tickets are available.

Amenities: Analysis of all 32 first round games using strength of schedule in handicapping the tournament with best plays in the future book, first half, halftime and other proposition bets, plus a look at the NIT.

Panelists: GamingToday columnist Andy Iskoe will speak along with Mike Lee, Ken White, Tim Trushel, Bob Donahue, Brent Crow, Trace Fields and Alf Musketa. Free random drawings will be held at the end of the seminars.

 

Where: Rampart Casino, Summerlin

Rules: Pick the teams that will wind up in the Sweet 16.

Entry fee: Free. Just one entry per person verified by Social Security Number.

Prize money: $5,000 cash for picking 16 of 16. $1,000 for picking 15 of 16. $500 for 14 of 16. $50 for 13 of 16. $25 for 12 of 16.

Where: Fremont Hotel & Casino, Downtown Las Vegas

Rules: March Mania T-shirt awarded with a minimum $20 wager on a four-teamer or more off the daily parlay card. Limit two shirts per person while supply lasts.

Entry fee: Free admittance.

Amenities: Food and drinks. Betting station open 8:45 a.m. until 5:15 p.m. Tournament games will be shown on big screens located on Fremont Events Center, second floor from 8:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Where: Excalibur, S. Las Vegas Blvd.

Entry fee: Free to everyone.

Amenities: Drawings for dinners, memorabilia and a two-night stay at the Excalibur are among the prizes during the NCAA Championship Party on April 1. ESPN Radio and the Miller Girls will be attending. Hot dogs and beer will be available for just $1. For more information, call 597-7777.

Rules: Entrants must select a winner for all Tournament games listed on the entry card. Entries must be completed filled out and legible to be valid. First round games are worth one point for each correct team, second round worth two points, third round worth three points, fourth round worth five points, fifth round worth seven points and championship game worth 10 points.

Entry fee: One free entry per person. Earn one additional entry with a $10, 3-team parlay wager during the sign-up period.

Prize money: $1,200 total purse. First place worth $500, second is $250, third $150, fourth $100.

Deadline: All entries must be submitted prior to start of the first game scheduled for Thursday, March 14.

Amenities: There will be two early-bird winners. The entrant with the highest point total after the first weekend of play will win a $100 parlay to be used on the following week’s games. The person with the highest point total after the second weekend of play (Mar. 24) will also win a $100 parlay to be used on the following week’s games.

Standings: The first round is worth 32 points, second 32,  third 24, fourth 20, fifth 14  and final game 10 for a total of 132.

Rules: Starting with the Elite Eight games on March 21, a $20 bet is worth a free entry to win great prizes for the Final.

Rules: Free slot play marathon, where you can redeem up to 3x your cash back in slot play.

Prize money: Guaranteed $1,000. First place is 50 percent of the entry fees.
