New York-New York is rebuilding its skyline, too.

The MGM-Mirage property submitted plans last week for a new 280-foot sign and a large memorial to New Yorkers killed in the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

Though details are sketchy, GamingToday has learned that the memorial will consist of two 75-foot-tall flagpoles with banners, commemorative plaques, display cabinets and other decorative features. Special lighting and an audio system also will be installed.

In addition, the resort proposes erecting a building-sign facade over its Tropicana Avenue driveway. Sources say the sign may include a crawling ticker-tape style motif. Large video screen animation is also part of the neon-highlighted package

The accompanying facade is reportedly reminiscent of the Chrysler Building ”” which would give Las Vegas’ NY-NY a 2-1 lead over Gotham.
