RONGE: Off four
months, turned in a very good but troubled
fourth place finish in a little handicap at 6½ furlongs on the turf. Was
prepping for longer and better race. Jump aboard at a mile or longer on turf.
BERNADETTE: Up and coming 3-year-old
filly got blasted at the start and was last. Made her move on turn, steadied,
then had to wait off heels. Came out to split horses, got bumped again and
somehow managed to run second. Follow this girl all the way.
MURPHY: Hard luck maiden keeps running
good enough to win, but some stranger seems to snatch it from him. Should get
there next time at 6½ or longer on turf.
THE BLUE GRASSMAN: Named after a
well-known Las Vegas host. Was Bafferts last hope for Kentucky Derby. Ran second
in a mediocre El Camino Real Derby, but you had to see what happened. Jock
Flores dropped his whip in the stretch with a clear lead. Then in a very heady
move snatched off his goggles and used them as a whip. Good job David. No roses
for this guy.
ed good early foot while lugging out. Had to take back, but came again for
third. Sitting on a win if he can run a straight path.
CUSTODY: Railed entire trip, battled
out to the end in a very game effort. Will break maiden going a mile or longer
CLUB: Stumbled at start or would have
cleared and gone wire to gate. This girl will wire in next and very soon.
Don’t miss, just send it in.
STAN: First timer ran third by a head
in a very troubled effort. This well meant guy will pop in next.
OF MISCHIEF: Was
bumped hard at start to be off-stride. Recovered to make a race of it, but had
to settle for second. All set to graduate for Zito.
SPEED: P. Day showed up on this E.
Walden speedball and almost wired at first asking. Day had trouble dictating her
speed in this race, but that won’t be the case in next. Wire to wire, easy
WITH STYLE: Had to steady hard at top
of the stretch, while making a winning move. Look for this girl on the turf in a
