Las Vegas resident Kurt Busch posted his first win on the Winston Cup circuit Sunday by capturing the Food City 500 NASCAR race at Bristol, Tenn.
Busch, a 25-1 shot according to Las Vegas Sports Consultants, took the lead from Jimmy Spencer with 55 laps remaining and held on for his biggest motorsports victory.
Spencer, who hasn't won in eight years, finished second. Ricky Rudd crossed the line third, his best effort of the year.
"We're really proud of Kurt," team owner Jack Roush told the Associated Press after the race. "All the guys at the 97 (car number) have really stepped up this year. This is a great win today. There's gonna be a lot more of that to come."
