The scheduled May 4 WBC super welterweight title fight at Mandalay Bay between Oscar De La Hoya and Fernando Vargas was postponed due to injury.
De La Hoya has a badly bruised left hand and his trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr., opted to cancel the fight. No date for rescheduling the matchup was announced.
The injury was sustained during a training session last week in Big Bear, Calif.
De La Hoya had been a minus $2.50 favorite against Vargas, who was a plus $2.00 underdog.
The next major bout in Las Vegas is April 20 at MGM Grand Garden Arena when Floyd Mayweather takes on Jose Castillo to unify the world lightweight championship. Mayweather is a whopping minus $5.00 favorite.
