Station Casinos this week rolls out its much-anticipated Weekly Handicapping Contest. The race books at Boulder, Palace, Green Valley Ranch, Santa Fe, Sunset and Texas Stations as well as Fiesta Rancho will participate in the Wednesday horse handicapping contest, which is a spin-off of Sunset Station’s wildly popular Friday contest.

"We have seen the tremendous excitement level that has been created at Sunset Station by Brad Bryant’s contest, and thought it would be a good idea to roll it out at all the properties," Micah Roberts, Palace Station race and sports director told GamingToday. "Every race player that I’ve ever talked to has told me that the Sunset Station contest is the best, and it really does challenge the players."

Not only are players challenged, but they’re rewarded as well. The contest will offer $5,000 in guaranteed prizes to the players with the most money. First place will pay $3,000; second $1,000; third $500; fourth $300; and fifth $200.

Entry is $10, and contestants make picks for the entire card at Hollywood Park. Each player has a "mythical" $2 win on each entry. The highest pari-mutuel earnings will be the winner.

Helping to sweeten the pot on the contest’s opening day, Wednesday (April 24), Stations is offering a $15,000 Twin Q in its race books.

Plus, a weekly bonus will be awarded to the contestant whose top selection finishes "in the money" in each of the contested races. If the bonus is not won, it will be carried to the next week.

"The amount of money involved is key to the entire contest," said Brad Bryant, Sunset Station race and sports manager. "With the chance of a bonus pool carryover, amounts could exceed $10,000.

Complete rules are posted at each race book. For more information, visit any Station Casinos race book location.
