The Las Vegas Hilton will once again sponsor the Pick the Ponies Invitational XX, billed as "the best race handicapping contest in Las Vegas."

This year’s $500 entry fee will feature the same wagering format as past years. Cash prizes will be awarded to contestants finishing in the Top 30 and the Hilton provided $15,000 in daily bonus prize money ($5,000 per day) if entries were received before April 22.

First prize will be 38 percent of all entry fees, based on 200 entrants. Second place is 19 percent of all fees and so on down to 30th place. All prizes are aggregated and, if ties exist, the prize money will be divided equally among entrants finishing in all positions involved in the tie.

$5,000 at Stations

The race books at Boulder, Palace, Green Valley Ranch, Santa Fe, Sunset and Texas Stations as well as Fiesta Rancho introduced Station Casinos Weekly Handicapping Contest last Wednesday.

The contest will offer $5,000 in guaranteed cash prizes to the players with the highest bankroll. First place will pay $3,000; second $1,000; third $500; fourth $300; and fifth $200.

An entry fee of $10 will be applied to a bonus pool. Entrants must be 21.

Contestants will make picks for the entire day’s races at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles. Each player has a "mythical" $2 win on each entry. The contestant with the highest parimutuel total after the day’s races will be the winner.

Entrants must select one horse and one alternate per race. The entries need to be hand-delivered to any Station Casinos race book prior to post time of Hollywood Park’s first race of the day.

A weekly bonus will be awarded to the contestant whose top selection finishes "in the money" in each of the contested races. If the bonus is not won, it will be carried to the next week. Contestants have five days to collect winnings.

Complete rules are posted at each race book. For more information, visit any Station Casinos race book location.
