Hollywood actor Dennis Quaid and his band, The Sharks, inaugurate Green Valley Ranch Station Casino’s outdoor venue at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, when they perform at the property’s Whiskey Beach. For ticket information, contact Green Valley Ranch Station Casino, (702) 617-7777.
"Music is like an old girlfriend that I fell in love with again," says The Sharks lead vocalist.
While Quaid’s acting credits in blockbuster films like the just-released, The Rookie, Traffic, Any Given Sunday, Frequency and Dragonheart are well documented, his love for performing live music has always been a major influence in his life. He has combined his dual talents by writing and performing songs in his films, including his portrayal of Jerry Lee Lewis in Great Balls of Fire. His songwriting and singing now come full circle with his new band Dennis Quaid and the Sharks. The band features an all-star lineup of world-class musicians who earned some credits of their own with Joe Cocker, Spyro Gyra, Tina Turner and Jose Feliciano. In addition to the actor, the group includes Jamie James, lead guitar and vocals; Tom Walsh, drums; Ken Strange, keyboards and Tom Silk, bass.
With a stunning view of the Las Vegas Strip, Whiskey Beach is the hippest, most-happening spot for parties, special events, concerts, or a day of relaxation. The pool has a walk-in sand beach, a disappearing-edge waterfall and a bridge and that spans its entire length.
