A visitor from Hawaii struck it rich at the Monte Carlo Saturday afternoon when she won $5 million on a Wheel of Fortune dollar slot machine.

In Las Vegas to rendezvous with relatives from California, the winner, who asked to remain anonymous, was staying at the Strip resort.

She said that Wheel of Fortune was her favorite slot machine but she never dreamed she would hit the progressive jackpot. Uncertain whether to laugh or cry, she said that her winnings will give her opportunity to pursue several lifelong dreams such as taking classes to learn Spanish and, perhaps, to open her own business.

The two coin, dollar game was last won in April at the ÂíVenetian when it paid $2.5 million. Wheel of Fortune is based on the world’s most popular game show and is one of 20 Nevada MegaJackpots systems operated by IGT. All IGT MegaJackpots awards are paid in annual installments upon verification, except Regis’ Cash Club, $1,000,000 Pyramid, Elvis, The Addams Family, Party Time, Harley-Davidson Video Slots and video Jeopardy! which are paid in their Âíentirety upon verification.
