A great option for going "cheap" in Las Vegas is to attend the many summer pool parties and activities. There are plenty of good opportunities for cheap food, entertainment and socializing loaded with eye candy and hard bodies.

For starters, try the "Pink Beach" at the Hard Rock on Wednesday evenings for "Women on Top" nights! (Great marketing department, those wild and crazy people at the Hard Rock!) The festivities begin at 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday with ladies admitted free all night and drinking for free for the first hour. The women get the royal treatment with massages, make-up demonstrations, nail polish changes and special art performances. The guys need to pony up ten bucks, but that includes a couple free drinks ”” and lots of great sight-seeing! The pool area is actually open every evening, with free admission for women and a $10 cover for guys, but who would want to miss "Women on Top" night? Outdoor gaming is also offered as well as swim-up blackjack.

Two other local pool party favorites can be found weekly at the Orleans and the Suncoast. Both parties are true bargains for an evening in the outdoors with superb amenities. "Big Al’s Fat Tuesday" pool parties take place, of course, on Tuesdays, from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Partygoers with paid admission receive two free drinks, hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, 1,000 slot club points, (to be redeemed the day after the party by earning one point on your Club Orleans account) and a chance at a $500 cash drawing. Live entertainment with popular local bands is provided, and admission for ladies is $2 and men get in for $5. There is even a free drawing for a chance to enter and win a Saturn SC1 Coupe as a grand prize at the end of the season.

"Wild Wednesdays" is similar to the Orleans party, (remember that Suncoast is a sister Coast Casino located in Summerlin) but held on Wednesdays with slightly different hours, from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Highlights for the evening include free appetizers, a complimentary Coors beer, (or Sunny Rumba, whatever that might be) live entertainment and a chance at another $500 cash drawing at the end of this party; 1,000 slot club points are also given, to be redeemed the day after the party, by earning one point on your Club Denaro account. Admission is the same as Orleans, $5 for guys and $2 for women (is there a gender fiscal gap in play here?). After the waterside activities subside, you can party in the showroom lounge for more dancing and entertainment with 1970s-style disco band, "Boogie Knights," performing until 1 a.m. And there’s no cover charge to get in!

Now, for those who would just rather scarf down cheap eats, if you are not already a Player’s Club member at Silverton, (free to join) be sure to become a member by July! Slot club members can chow down at the All-American Lunch Buffet, Monday through Friday during the entire month of July for a mere $1.99! The good people at Silverton have also decided to hold over the Spaghetti and Meatballs special they have been serving in the Fireside Café for $1.99 too. Get it anytime, (24 hour special) for the remainder of June and all of July now too!

Until next week”¦ Eat well, play well, stay well!
