National Airlines has incorporated new pricing levels designed to meet the needs of today’s last minute business and leisure travelers. Through FareSavers, National has significantly lowered many main cabin fares, particularly unrestricted, walk-up prices. In addition, FareSavers offers low First Class fares, advance purchase First Class Web fares, and other affordable fare categories.

"There is no doubt that the travel industry must undergo significant changes to adapt to the new environment in which we operate," said Mark S. Suman, senior vice president ”” marketing and strategic planning. "Gone are the days when the largest airlines reaped huge benefits from their frequent ”˜last minute’ business travelers."

Suman noted that some airlines historically received 40 percent of their revenues from only 5 percent of their passengers, the frequent business traveler who paid "outrageous prices for sake of convenience."

He added that National is "fully prepared to offer a more responsive pricing menu that will appeal to today’s prudent traveler."

FareSavers, Suman said, is more than just a "value proposition" for the frequent business traveler; it is a common sense offering to all "last-minute" travelers.

"It is our firm belief that the age-old practice of lowering restricted fares to unprofitable levels while increasing unrestricted fares to prohibitive levels constitutes a broken business model for the current environment," Suman said, adding that National will remain competitive with other carriers on the lowest, restricted fares.

National’s FareSavers also offers multiple fare levels for First Class tickets, including 3-day advance purchase discounts on the carrier’s Web site that could save a traveler between New York and Los Angeles more than $2,600 roundtrip.

NOTE: All fares shown are one-way, except First Class Web fares which are each way based on the purchase of a roundtrip ticket. Seating is limited for 3-day advance purchase, restricted walk-up and First Class Web fares, and these fares are non-refundable. Prices do not include passenger facility charges (PFCs) of up to $4.50 on each segment flown and a federal excise tax of up to $3 for each segment of the itinerary (a segment is defined as one takeoff and landing) where applicable. Prices do not include a $2.50 "September 11th Security Fee" for each segment flown (maximum of $10 per roundtrip). OAL ”” Other full service airlines.
