We have all kinds of odds and ends "cheap news" to share this week, so we’ll just get right to it!

Jerry’s Nugget: The special is an 8-ounce New York Steak and Pan Fried Shrimp special for $5.49. The special is available from 4 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday. The deal comes with soup or salad, a choice of whipped, baked or French fried potatoes (or rice), and garlic or French bread.

Admission is $2 for women and $5 for men. Admission price includes two free drinks to get you started.

Palms: Pick up a free 10-page Gaming Guide booklet explaining the rules and how to play eight different casino table games. They have also recently added a Saturday brunch at the Fantasy Market Buffet served from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $8.99 per person.

Luxor: All locals are admitted free to the RA Nightclub on Wednesdays, until 1 a.m. (Strange but true: "All female adult entertainers are admitted free all night!")

Texas Station: Big Brothers and Big Sisters host their 17th Annual Fundraiser at the Bowling center on July 20-21. To help raise pledges, you can bowl two games for free along with free food and beverages, and even get a free T-shirt. Shoe rental is free too. Hours for the event are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Call 731-2227, ext. 408 for more information.

Speedway Casino: Try the Saturday specials through August 24: 99-cent frozen Margaritas (available at the Casino Bar), 50-cent hot dogs (limit two), and $1.99 meat loaf and mashed potatoes served inside Rookies Bar and Grill from noon to 10 p.m.

Fiestas: At either location get a strawberry shortcake in the Baja Beach Café for 99 cents anytime you want. Available 24/7.

Finally, if you’re a Las Vegas local, always be sure to ask about discounts when attending events or touring special attractions. Many casino hotels offer specials and discounts for local Nevada residents such as the Manhattan Express roller-coaster ride at New York-New York and the Shark Reef attraction at Mandalay Bay.
