Stormy should have covered his bets

A small wager on the Cornhuskers eight years ago had caused controversy in the Stormy Dean’s campaign to become governor of Nebraska.

"I made a $10 bet on the Huskers," Dean told the Omaha World Herald last week. "I called in to a bookie and the police were on the other end."

The World Herald questioned Dean the same day he announced his support for expanded gambling.

"Nebraska could capture money that people now spend outside of the state, such as Iowa’s casinos," he said.

Dean said that as governor he would not advocate legalizing sports betting in the state.
