Darren Romeo, "The Voice of Magic," last week was awarded the prestigious Merlin Award for Entertainer of the Year 2002 just weeks after the debut of his show at The Mirage.

The Magic Academy at the International Magicians Society, astounded by Romeo’s hard work, dedication to magic and incredible singing voice, created the special award category of Entertainer of the Year.

"To say Magician of the Year was not enough for Darren," said Tony Hassini, International Magicians Society chairman and CEO. "He merges magic with his incredible voice and proves to be more ”¦ an entertainer." Introduced as the protégé of the most successful entertainers in the history of live entertainment, Siegfried & Roy, Romeo has won critical acclaim for his matinee show, "Siegfried & Roy Present Darren Romeo, The Voice of Magic," which opened in May.

Romeo’s show is staged Tuesday through Saturday, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $30 including one drink and tax.
