It’s not much, but it’s still NFL football!

Even though it’s only preseason (correction: exhibition season!), and even though there are only two games, this weekend nevertheless signals the official start of the football season. Let’s get to the betting windows!

We will start with Saturday’s game between the Redskins and the 49ers, played in Osaka, Japan. The expectation is that new ’Skins coach Steve Spurrier will have his offense cranked up to put points on the board, so we recommend taking the 3 points and playing the game over 35.

Monday’s Hall of Fame Game has some interesting twists of its own with Don Capers taking the helm of the expansion Houston Texans, who meet the NY Giants in Canton, Ohio. Keep in mind that Capers led the Panthers to a 5-0 preseason in their inaugural year, and the expectation is he will want to get off to another big start. Thus, the play is Houston +4, and maybe a money line bet.
