Games for week ending Sunday, Sept. 1 (assuming no strike).
Cards at Cubs: Chicago has strong pitching. With run support, can be dangerous. Going with Matt Clement and Kerry Wood to slow Cards.
Braves at Expos: Montreal beat Giants with Colon and Ohka on hill. Look for them to Colon and Ohka to do same against Braves.
Brewers at Reds: Cincy has to climb over Astros before reaching Cards. Reds keep hopes alive behind Jimmy Haynes and Ryan Dempster.
Phils at Mets: Both teams out of contention, but deep feeling exists between these two. Al Leiter wins one for Mets. Duckworth and Padilla win for Phils.
Dodgers at Astros: LA gave Braves fits in Dodgertown. Siding with Ashby and Perez, hot-hitting Shawn Green and Gagne in the pen.
Giants at D’backs: SF hit the wall last 10 games and may be done as Wild Card team. D’backs finish Giants behind Randy Johnson and Rick Helling.
Padres at Marlins: Who would watch this? Pass.
Yanks at Jays: New York erratic of late and could have problems with Jays. Halladay and Loaiza do the job against suddenly shaky Yanks pitching.
BoSox at Indians: Boston’s chances have gone by the boards the past 10 games. West Coast teams look dominant. CC Sabathia wins one for Tribe.
Twins at A’s: Great matchup that many hope will take place again in October. Both with solid pitching and timely hitting. Favor Zito and Hudson for A’s.
Royals at M’s: The only chance for KC is when Paul Byrd takes the hill. Mariners hitting has fallen off and playoffs no longer a guarantee.
O’s at Angels: Anaheim determined to finish first or as Wild Card. Look for an Angels sweep at home behind Appier, Washburn and Lackey.
Forget the rest. We’re on strike.
