Games for week ending Sept. 5.
Expos at Braves: Atlanta swept Montreal in three game set at the Big O. Could be more of the same here. Going with Millwood and Marquis for two wins.
Mets at Phillies: The Phillies are red hot and over .500. Looks like the Mets have packed their bags. Pick your spot and grab Phillies.
Reds at Brewers: Cincy’s division hopes are dashed, but wild card is still possible. Going with Dessens and Reitsma to win in Milwaukee.
Cubs at Cards: St. Louis beating up on Chicago pitching. Should do more of same this week. Finley and Andy Benes grab two wins.
D’backs at Giants: San Fran is on a roll to move within a game of Dodgers. Giants have beaten both Johnson and Schilling. Will take a similar effort to make wild card. Betting against it, but will take SF against Batista.
Astros at Dodgers: LA won two from Astros in Houston. Dodgers need a repeat. Taking Houston with Saarloos and Wade Miller on the hill.
No opinion on the rest of the NL.
Jays at Red Sox: Boston’s chances could be up in smoke before this series begins. Boston has three with New York. Martinez is uncertain. Going with Wakefield and Burkett for two wins.
Tigers at Yanks: New York in usual coasting gear since Red Sox series. Have top spot in AL East just about wrapped. Going with Weaver and Wells to deliver two wins.
Angels at O’s: Anaheim refuses to lose and is still in thick of wild card. Appier has righted himself to give Angels a big lift. Ortiz and Lackey keep the merry go round working for Anaheim.
A’s at Twins: Angels can’t lose and A’s haven’t lost in three weeks. Not going against a winner. Have to wait for Oakland to drop a couple. Over looks good Saturday and Sunday.
M’s at Royals: KC beat Mariners over the weekend
and will hand out more of the same at home. Ascencio and Byrd take mound against weakening Seattle bats. Like KC with Byrd as a double play.
Forget the rest.
