KC will not needmiracle

The NFL season is upon us with three overtimes, which proves one thing—take the points in these games. Even, if the Jets win by 6!

Games for the Week ending Sept. 16.

Colts (-3) 26, Dolphins 22: Miami puts 49 points on the board against Detroit. Dolphins have a head start against Colts defense. But Miami not that explosive on turf. Indy thrives on it. Manning and Co. enjoy this outing

Chiefs (-4½) 27, Jags 17: KC win a miracle versus Cleveland. The Chiefs won’t need a miracle here. Running of Priest Holmes and passing of Trent Green win on the square.

Saints (+pts) 24, Packers 20: Both teams won their openers in OT. Green Bay looked sluggish early against under-rated Atlanta. Michael Vick was impressive against Packers. Expect more of the same from QB Aaron Brooks of the Saints.

Jets (-3) 20, Patriots 13: Hate going with the Jets as a home favorite. New York fares better on the road, favorite or dog. Jets have many weapons plus tremendous speed at skill positions. QB Testaverde on top of his game, though RB Curtis Martin is doubtful. Lamont Jordan is a capable fill-in. Don’t sell Pats short.

Falcons 24, Bears 23 (+3): Game figures to be nip and tuck with Atlanta squeezing it out. Fear QB Chris Chandler replacing Jim Miller. If that happens, Bears’ chances improve tremendously. We’re taking the Bears and let the chips fall.

Bucs (-3) 17, Ravens 9: Baltimore’s "hitless wonders" have no offense. Scary proposition, but taking Bucs despite their offensive woes.

Panthers (-4) 20, Lions 19: Carolina as a favorite doesn’t impress me. Going with Lions and the points isn’t the great play in the world. Weakly, we’re trusting Detroit.

Browns (-5) 31, Bengals 10: Cleveland lost in an unbelievable way vs. Chiefs when a defensive player threw his helmet in the air thinking the game was over. A penalty followed and the Chiefs kicked the winning FG. Browns went with Kelly Holcomb when Tim Couch went down. Bengals stumbling along, waiting until the sixth or seventh game before putting points on the board.

Titans 24, Cowboys 17: Tennessee made a strong comeback to beat the Eagles. Feeling here is it will carry over. Between QB Steve McNair and RB Eddie George, the Titans nail down second win.

Cards (+3) 20, Seahawks 17: Lack of offense works against Seattle. Cards with Jake Plummer at the controls outscore Seahawks.

Rams 31, Giants (+12) 24: The Giants put up spirited battle against 49ers. Should carry over here. High-scoring Rams are vulnerable. If Giants play same kind of game vs. Rams that they showed against Niners, they could win straight-up.

Vikings 27, Bills (+5) 24: The Bills played big game against Jets and came away empty. Ditto for Vikings. QB Drew Bledsoe looked terrific against Jets. Similar effort against Vikes will bring victory.

Chargers 27, Texans 10: Texas can be tough if taken lightly, but the Chargers can’t afford to look past any team. Defense comes through for San Diego. Chargers (-13) is high but can be done.

49ers (-3) 31, Broncos 17: Different cup of tea for Broncos playing on the road. Niners defense stifles Griese, who will struggle throwing the ball. Denver’s running game will also suffer. Niners smelled up the Meadowlands yet escaped with a win. Home will be easy with cheap number.

Steelers 26, Raiders (+5) 23: Don’t know how Steelers recover from Monday night affair. Raiders are not much for traveling cross-country. Oakland is more dangerous early in the season.

Eagles (-2) 31, Redskins 27: The Eagles blew a big lead vs. Titans. Don’t look for that to happen two weeks in a row. Feeling here is QB Shane Matthews won’t put up a 300-yard day against Philly like he did against Arizona.
