Business may be lagging on the Strip, but locals are betting up Suncoast Casino.

The 2-year-old Summerlin resort is launching its second addition, a $65 million expansion that will add 200,000 square feet to the property.

Casino action expands with 65,600 square feet of additional gaming space (including a sports book expansion) on the main floor. A lower floor gets a 15,500-square-foot bingo parlor and 6,600 feet of additional casino space.

Coast Casinos officials say that heavy play on slot and video poker machines continues to fuel the demand for more space.

The new casino will feature “Tuscan village imagery’’ and connect to the existing building just east of the casino entrance. A new three-level parking structure will stand on an existing parking lot next to the casino addition.

Construction is scheduled to start early next year.

Earlier, the Coast Casinos property doubled its rooms from 200 to 419.

The latest round of expansion comes as Station Casinos weighs plans for a casino a few miles to the southwest at the I-215 beltway. No construction date has been set for that project.
