At Santa Anita, W Ward had two horses in the Race 1 and scratched the main one. His second horse ran third with our other pick in the race running second despite a ton of trouble. Despite an inquiry, there was no change in the order of finish.
Our picks in Race 4 ran third and fourth. We had the winners in Race 5
(Two Tone Roan paying $10) and Race 6 (Lady Disdain at $8.60). In Race 7, we had the winner Skimmetry, but our other key horse ran widest of all into the stretch and could only get up for fourth to cost us the tri.
At Bay Meadows we ran second in the first leg of our Pick Three and that was the day. Now, on to our best picks for Saturday.

#2 Charmo was last seen facing the Tin Man in the Grade1 Shoemaker. No such horse in this race and trainer Canani can bring them back ready. He is listed at 2-1 on the morning line.I would take that price and single this old pro in the picks. Pick: 2
There are two horses in this race that offer some nice value. Shem Tov (5) has just missed in his last two starts on this turf course one by a nostril and the other by a neck. Cavanal (11) makes his second lifetime start for trainer Drysdale and has Gomez up. All systems look like its a go. Pick: 5-11
This looks outside with Roadside Rest (6), Pictural (7) and Secret Shuttle (8). I will box all three in an exacta and tri. Pick: 6-7-8
In a wide open race, I have cut it down and will use only two horses. Cherokee Heaven (3) is 2-for-2 on this course and at this distance. Asperity (4) looks to be sitting on a big effort in his third start in the States. Pick: 3-4
Its a three horse affair with Arroyo Trabuco (5) won in his last on this track at 7f. Nerinx (6) likes synthetic and is a course specialist. Common Trust (8) is first off the claim for Jeff Mullins. Pick: 5-6-8
Another three-horse spread. Obrigado (1) has run his best on this turf course and at this distance. On the Acorn (4) trained by Mike Mitchell, is another who loves the course and distance. Boule DOR (7) is a Bone/Mullins, one dangerous duo. Pick: 1-4-7
I will be using four horses. Picks: 2-3-8-10.
Star of Paso (3) is a first time starter out of the Diaz barn and he popped with a $36 winner Friday. The danger is Forbidden Water (4) now back off a long layoff for sharp trainer. Pick: Win bet on 3, Quinella bet 3-4
MACDUFF (5) was also entered in race three at Santa Anita today but opted for this spot. Trainer Drysdale is one sharp cookie so he must think he has a big shot here. At 12-1 morning line, I will string along. Pick: 5
NOTE: Remember to check for late scratches.
