This battle between the two best professional hockey teams in Canada, the top teams in the Northeast Division and the two highest scoring clubs in the NHL has been all Senators of late as Ottawa has won eight of the last nine meetings and is 5-1 against Les Habs this season, outscoring them, 23-11 along the way.
Although the Canadiens have been solid the last two months, have the best record in the East (42-24-10, 94 points) and have been getting solid goaltending from Carey Price (2.64 GAA), the Senators just seem to have Montreal’s number and is now 41-38-5-2 lifetime against their rivals from down the road on Highway 417.
Ottawa netminder Martin Gerber (2.66 GAA) is 4-1 versus the Canadiens this season, allowing 10 goals in those games, and shut out Montreal, 3-0, in their last meeting on March 13 at Bell Centre.
Expect a strong effort from Ottawa against a Montreal squad that is playing nice lately behind goalie Price (4-2 L6). The trend here strongly supports the Senators at home and they need to win more than the Canadiens as they are on the outside looking in right now for home ice in the East playoffs. Senators +115.
