Look for another A’s-Yanks match

Oct 1, 2002 8:56 AM

Twins at A’s: Off the top, this series looks like a cinch for Oakland. However, what looks easy can turn into a nightmare. Oakland, a 13-5 favorite, should have no problem sweeping the series. The A’s will then go on to meet the Yankees for the AL pennant. ATHLETICS.

Angels at Yankees: The Yanks are a 2-1 favorite, high for a team that has trouble with Anaheim. Going against New York in Game 1. We like Andy Pettitte in Game 2, with New York going on to take the series in five. YANKEES.

Cards at D’backs: Arizona a huge favorite at —240. Randy Johnson is the choice to win Game 1 and that’s it. St. Louis comes back to beat Curt Schilling, who has hit a wall the last month of the season. The Cards sweep Games 2-4 to move into the NL final against Atlanta. CARDINALS.

Giants at Braves: Atlanta is a 9-5 favorite to overcome Barry Bonds and Company, but it won’t be easy. Going with Tom Glavine in the opener and against Greg Maddux in Game 2. We like Kevin Millwood in Game 3 and Glavine to capture the deciding fifth game. BRAVES.
