Conkright in new Scientific Games post

Sally Conkright, PH.D., has joined Scientific Games Corporation (SGMS) as vice president, organizational development. She most recently served as chief administrative officer for Converge Inc., and prior to that held the post of vice president human resources and public relations for Xerox New Enterprises.

Conkright’s appointment was announced by company chairman and CEO Lorne Weil who said, "In this new role she will provide a unique and valuable perspective on the company’s growth and development, helping us to maximize our efficiency and effectiveness."

Chuck Hunsucker has resigned as general manager of the Sahara Hotel/Casino and has been succeeded by Larry Serna, a long-time employee of Sahara owner Bill Bennett, beginning with his days at the Circus Circus property.

Albert J. Rapuano, a veteran gaming executive with stints as the head of such operations as Bally’s Hotel/Casino and the Riviera, was approved last week to receive a liquor license by the Las Vegas City Council so that he could become the manager of the Crazy Horse Too club on Industrial Road.

Herbert Wolfe resigned last week from his post as president and chief operating officer at the Sands Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. No replacement was announced immediately by the property’s principal stockholder, Carl Icahn. In Las Vegas, Icahn operates the Stratosphere, and the two Arizona Charlie’s properties.

Joyce E. Jarding, who formerly served on the board of the Dubuque Racing Association, and Rick Morain, editor and publisher of the Jefferson, Iowa, Bee & Herald newspaper, have been named to serve on the Iowa State Racing and Gaming Commission.

According to information filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Morton L. Topfer, a director at Alliance Gaming Corp.(ALLY), has sold 50,000 of the company’s shares at an average price of $15.51 a share.

In Atlantic City, Larry Mullin, a 13-year employee at Trump Marina, most recently as chief operating officer, has resigned to become executive vice president of marketing at Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa.
