GTECH Holdings Corp. (GTK) has a new chairman. He is Emmett Paige Jr., a member of the company’s board of directors since 1997.

He replaces W. Bruce Turner, who vacated the post to serve the company as its president and CEO. For several years, Turner, a West Point graduate who became a highly-rated gaming analyst with Salomon Smith Barney, joined the GTECH board in 1996 after retiring from his Wall Street duties.

In 1999, after the company’s two top executives resigned unexpectedly, Turner took the helm as chairman and CEO, eventually returning credibility to the company. He returned to the board, but retained the chairman’s title, when another CEO was appointed. That lasted for about a year when the individual resigned. Turner once again took charge.
