Joining the seminar by phone are jockeys Jerry Bailey and Kent Desormeaux, beat writers Alan Shuback, Steve Crist (Daily Racing Form), Andy Beyer (Washington Post) and Mike Watchmaker. There will be live broadcast of the seminar at or or on Las Vegas radio KSHP (1400 AM).

The 21st annual Pick The Ponies Invitational will take place Oct. 23-25 at the Las Vegas Hilton, serving as a prelude to horse racing’s Super Bow. The Cup takes place Saturday, the same day the official standings for the Invitational are scheduled to be released.

The entry fee is $500 (with a maximum of three entries) per person. The Hilton will provide $15,000 in daily bonus prize money ($5,000 per day) completely independent of all entry fees.

First place (based on 200 entrants) is worth 38 percent of all entry fees, which could run up to $38,000. Second place pays off from 19 percent of the entries. The top 30 places will receive money.

Any disputes should be registered with Hilton tournament officials by 9 a.m. the morning following the disputed races.

Oct. 25-26

Any person wagering in the Racebook will receive a ticket to win a $100 voucher to wager on Saturday for the next Breeders Cup race. (The voucher has no cash value). Any $20 wager Saturday will reward the customer with a Breeders Cup Collectors glass. (Limit two glasses per person as long as supplies last). At 10 a.m. Saturday, names will be drawn to receive the $100 voucher on the first Breeders Cup race. Entrants must be present to win. Names will be drawn 30 minutes before each Cup race.
