Horses to Watch

SANTA ANITA:

FIVE SCHILLINGS: $$$. This will be a very good play when this guy shows up again. His running line should insure a good price. In last made a winning move, but was blocked off heels in upper stretch. Steadied in midstretch, swung around horses but had too much to do and jock let up. Bet this guy with confidence.

PRINCESS NICOLETTE: Broke slow and awkwardly to be off last. Was up between horses, stalked toward the inside but lost interest and fell back. Look for a big rebound with a clean break.

DECIMATE: Was big steam in last but came up a little short to run second. Should make no mistake in next on the grass.

FUN HOUSE: Probably best in last but had to steady hard when tight on the hill. Came out three deep into the stretch but finished fastest.

LUCKY RAY: Broke slow to be last and far back. Made a big run turning for home while very wide but could not make up the necessary ground. Will blast home in next on a fair strip at a nice price.

SIX HITTER: Was bumped hard at the start, moved up along the rail but had to wait to find room. When finally clear, rushed through an opening to get up in the final strides. Supposed to be another good B. Frankel horse but has never lived up to expectations. Starting to get good and could put a few wins together.

BAY MEADOWS:

ELLOLUV: $$$. Broke good from the nine hole to get into a nice stalking position, but dropped back while three wide into the stretch, suddenly made another move in deep stretch to be flying late. This girl will be worth a nice lay down in next.

KERRYGOLD: Somehow Lumpy got this horse in all kind of trouble in a six-horse field as he was blocked through most of the stretch. This guy is a true pro and will make amends in next at a fair price.

SEVEN CHARMS: Was bumped and steadied at the start. Fell back, came between horses on the turn but lost his punch. Should get there in next with a clean trip.

OPIC DIVERSION: $$ Liked this horse a lot at 5-1 in last but got waked out of the gate and lost all shot at the win. May need a jockey change if trainer upgrades even a little this guy will get the money in next.

AQUEDUCT:

MARKET GURU: Broke last and had to make a five-wide rally but was going best at the end to lose by less than a length. Could see a stretch out in next. If so send it in. $$$

BACK TO WORK: First time starter got off at almost 12-1 in last and ran a big one to be second, follow this guy on the grass and collect.

RELATIVA: $$$ Was making an inside rally when buried in traffic behind a wall of horses. Once clear, was coming like a freight train. Just love this girl’s chances in next at a price. Dig deep when long on the turf!

ARLINGTON / HAWTHORNE:

(opens Nov. 1)

HERE COMES RUSTY: Was hooked entire trip but ran gangbusters to get beat a head. Just sitting on a win, but the price will be short.

IMPERIAL THEATRE: I was all over this guy in last but got completely left at the gate to be far back. Del Mar shipper came flying in the stretch to run third by a head. You can bet this guy with much confidence in next. $$$.

MINI BRUSH: Well-backed first time started. Stalked three wide for six furlongs, surged to the front in mid-stretch but gave up the lead late. Was a little green and did not know what to do after she got to the front. Will not make same mistake in next.
