Horses to Watch

Nov 19, 2002 8:23 AM

SEVENTY SIXER: Was off slow as he just couldn’t handle the off track. Went five wide on the turn and four wide into the stretch. Showed determination to run on in a much better effort than it appeared. Will turn it around in next at a price. $$$.

WHEATON ONE: Got stuck inside to duel for command. Came out in the stretch to make a run at the winner but lost his punch. This guy is sitting on a big run in next.

MALONE: This guy was absolutely best in last when making a huge move up the inside, but was taken to a dead stop when caught behind a wall of horses. Bet with much confidence in next going long on the turf. $$$.

INDIGO MYTH: Stalked pace outside, tried to go between horses but had to wait off heels. Split horses into the stretch but lost his momentum. Clear sailing will get the job done in next going long on the turf.

RUSHIN TO ALTAR: Was off slow and dead last. Ran gamely for the show dough. Follow this guy. Will win a few in a row turf or dirt.

A SONG FOR BILLY: Thought this guy had great shot in last but just did not get into the battle and was wide entire trip. Will see a different animal in next.

SHELLYS TERMS: 2-year old first timer almost got the job done at 21-1 but could not run down the lone front speed. Look for move up and score at another big price.

ZAYED: Big time effort in last and this guy will move up and score again, maybe on the stretch out.

ALOHA GOODBYE: Just did not like the mud in last and will blow them away in next on a fast strip.

GOLDEN GATE FIELDS

RAPIER DANCE: Had the misfortune to face Kentucky Derby prospect D’s Bertrando in last. Had no shot at the win but easily put away rest of field. Will win with ease in next at a short price.

SANDS OF TIME: Raced under a snug hold while boxed on the rail. Eased out to find a clear patch. Launched his bid three-wide and was flying late for the win. Good things in store for this guy on the grass.

TEN TEN TWENTY: Looked like she was making a winning move in last but could not handle the wet going and flattened out in the lane. Bet with confidence on dry land.

KISSING GIRL: Tried to rally inside leaving the half. Was in tight and steadied, shifted out for room and closed fastest once clear to get the second spot. Will make no mistakes in next going long on the turf.

CHROMEHEART: Looked ready to break maiden in last, but got fanned very wide and tried to circle the field but lost some of his punch and had to settle for third. Should get there in next versus a similar bunch of maidens.

AQUEDUCT:

POLISH POSH: Could not run down the odds-on favorite in last but completely destroyed the rest of the field by some nine lengths. Will win with ease in next at a short price.

PUBLIC OFFICIAL: First-time starter going long on the turf. Rallied wide into the stretch and finished very game, despite racing greenly in the drive. This experience will get him to the winners circle in next. $$$.

TARAKAN: Broke dead last and awkward. Was steadied along the inside, angled out in the stretch and battled gamely for the win. Tab for repeat at another good price.

INDY FLAG: 2-year-old first time starter was sent off at 0.95 cents to a dollar in last. Ran to the hype, despite racing a bit green and wide. Drew clear late for an easy win. This colt could be something special.
