After watching the recent Saints-Browns game all I could think of is Murphy’s Law — if something can go wrong it will.
With my hard-earned cash on the Saints, I just sat there and watched them drive up and down the field only to turn the ball over four times in scoring position. After this debacle ended (Browns 24-15) and several cocktails consumed, I almost tried to recoup my losses on the late game.
Somehow, I pulled myself together and had a nice dinner out. Remember there are a lot of tough beats and whatever bad can happen usually will. Bettors must remember never to chase their dough. When things are good, press up. When you’re going bad, step back and think.
Bowl games are right around the corner, so look for some good things to happen. It just takes patience.
Saturday, Dec. 7
MIAMI (-pts) vs Virginia Tech: VT will give all, but just don’t think they can handle the Hurricanes. When Miami gets the lead this game will be history and it’s off to the Fiesta Bowl to face Ohio State. Lay the number and lumber.
WASH ST (-pts) at UCLA: State sitting on a great season, but needs to knock off Bruins. UCLA showed what it’s made of when humiliated by Southern Cal. Wash St. played its heart out in multi-overtime loss to Washington. Character gets job done to complete great season and earn a New Years Day bowl berth.
OKLAHOMA (-pts) vs Colorado: Sooners are the superior team on both sides of the ball and better coached. The Okies beat Colorado in the first meeting, 27-11. Nothing should change.
Last week: 3-7.
Sunday, Dec. 8
BILLS (+pts) at Patriots: Buffalo was embarrassed at home last month, 38-7. Will put forth top effort here in pay back.
FALCONS (+pts) at Buccaneers: Tampa took it to Atlanta earlier in the season 20-6. However, things will change here. The Atlanta offense is operating on all cylinders. Take Falcons on the money line.
REDSKINS (-pts) at home over Giants: Skins lost heartbreaker last month in New York, 19-17. Should get redemption in this spot.
RAIDERS (-pts) at Chargers: Oakland seething for this rematch after losing to San Diego at home in overtime, 27-21.
PACKERS (-pts) vs Vikings: Just love Green Bay in this spot. The Packers, at home, will be all over the Vikes and avenge a 31-21 loss at Minnesota last month. $$$.
Last week: 2-1.
